In this document we will introduce you to the basics of playing Edge of Dusk.

Getting Started

Ok you've just logged in for the first time. And now you're wondering how to start playing. Well the most important thing in this game is to keep your ladies and thugs happy. If they are happy, you will be too. If they lose too much faith in you as their leader they will leave you.

When you first start up you have $20,000 to spend. The wisest advice would be to spend that money on condoms, crack, beer and weaponry.

And why is that? Well it works quite simple:

condoms and crack brings happiness to your prostitutes. When you use your turns these two items will be used up according to the turns you spend and the amount of ladies you have. Buying more condoms and/or crack, will result in more happiness and therefore your payout percentage can be lowered. This payout percentage can be both raised and lowered depending on what happiness you have. Having a low percentage will result in less money given to your prostitutes and more money given to your own account.

beers and weapons bring happiness to your thugs. When you use turns these beers will get used up in the same way as condoms and crack does for your ladies. You should consider having the same amount of weapons or more, then the number of thugs you currently have at all times.

Recruit, Cook some drugs, Do business

Ok now you should be set up for start making businesses, so let me explain what these options are.

Recruit:

If you choose to recruit you will be given the ability to recruit thugs and ladies, in the meantime your current prostitutes will bring you some income and it will increase depending to how many prostitutes you have.

This option is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED IN THE BEGINNING of the game to start settling yourself.

Cook some drugs:

Time to make some drugs? Well if you decide to start making yourself some dope, you should first of all have a bunch of thugs to start with. Because the amount that you create will be calculated through how many thugs you have when making these turns. In the meantime your prostitutes will also bring you some income. Remember that this option will not give you any new prostitutes and thugs. Although it will bring you, if used properly, a lot of dope which you easily can pawn and get money for.

This option is NOT RECOMMENDED TO START WITH.

Do Business:

When you choose this option you will use half of the turns you decide spending on recruiting, and the other half of making some drugs. For example: let's say you spend 20 turns on Do business, then 10 of these turns are used up for recruiting, and another 10 are used for cooking drugs.

This is more RECOMMENDED IN THE LATE BEGINNING of the game.

The Ranking System

Do you wonder how the ranking system works? Well if you click on the "Ranking" you will be directed to a page within Edge of Dusk from which you will be able to see the status of each and every single person who has signed up for the game. You can choose ranking from all countries together, your own local country or any other country, you can also choose to look at the online ranks, which allows you to see which users that currently are online.

The STATUS symbol indicates if someone is online and active, inactive or offline.

Green means that he or she is online and active.

Yellow means that the user is inactive but has been logged on for just quite a while.

Red means that the user is offline.

If a users name is GREEN that means that this person is an Admin, those people will serve you with answers for any questions you might have.

If you click on a person’s name you will be delivered to this user’s personal page. From which you will be able to read this persons information about him/her self. You are also able to send this person a message or attack the user from here.

Attacking system

Have you grown tired of someone and want to finish him off? Well then, all you have to do is to enter either this user's personal page, and choose the “Attack” link, or you can alternative click the “Attack” link under "Home" from which you need to enter this persons name and then start attacking.

There are 5 different forms of attacks: Drive by shooting, Home Invasion, Steal Whores, Jack Vehicles and Steal Drugs.

Drive by shooting

This will give you the opportunity to send out your thugs in rides to attack your opponent. Each ride you have can carry 5 thugs. So if you have 100 000 thugs you would need 20 000 rides to let every thugs you have attack. This is a very efficient way of killing the other opponents’ thugs if you succeed, but if you don’t succeed you will lose a lot of your own thugs.

Home Invasion

This option allows you to just send in your thugs, without any rides to invade your opponent. If you win you will also steal some money if the user you're attacking has any stashed away.

Steal Whores

This option will allow you to attack your opponent with dope, allowing you to steal prostitutes from him/her. This will only work if the person you are attacking has a very low prostitute Happiness meter.

Jack Vehicles

If your opponent got 0 thugs left but a bunch of rides you might want to snatch them for your own good.

Steal Drugs

This option works as the Home Invasion, but with one difference. Instead of stealing the person's money, you will steal his drugs.

Remember that you can only attack and be attacked by other users that reside in the same country as yourself. You can also only attack and be attacked by people that are less than twice as big as you or more than half your size in networth.

Networth

Your networth is dependent on 6 different things: Prostitutes, Rides, Thugs, Smack, Crack and Cash. If you want to increase your networth then you have to get more dope, ladies, thugs, rides or cash. However, a good suggestion to you would be to not have any spare cash or dope if possible so other users can't snatch it by attacking you.
